Where do you find great food, fun, the perfect island atmosphere, and even a celebrity hangout? The Sand Bar & Grille, of course. Located on the harbor in Oak Bluffs, a quick walk from the
ferry, the Sand Bar is the only place on the Vineyard where you can enjoy a great meal and creative cocktails while submerging your feet in real island sand.
Boasting scenic views of the Oak Bluffs harbor and a lively atmosphere, there is no better place on the Vineyard to sit and relax over fantastic food and a cool drink. The Sand Bar is bustling during the day, but this popular dining and drinking spot truly comes alive at night. It is the quintessential location for any bachelor/bachelorette parties or any social gatherings. On occasion, you are apt to catch a DJ or musician playing a lively set. You are also likely to catch a glimpse of pro athletes, such as Red Sox players, stopping by for a few beers.
The Sand Bar offers two fully stocked bars, one inside and one out. Both serve a multitude of menu items from bottled and tap beer to seafood and colorful cocktails. As an added bonus, the Sand Bar has a Raw Bar where you enjoy fresh oysters, shrimp, claims, and more. Whether seated inside to catch a break from the heat, or basking outside under the sun and stars, the Sand Bar does not disappoint.

Along with a pleasant atmosphere, the Sand Bar’s menu offers something for everyone and every palate. Menu items include crispy chicken tenders, local Fish-n-Chips, and some of the best sushi on the island. Start with The Real Deal Crab Cakes Appetizer, which includes two fresh cakes stuffed with a generous portion of tender lump blue crab and served with the bar’s own and unrivaled remoulade sauce. It is the perfect satisfying dish to start off any meal.

Renowned for its exquisite array of sushi, the Tiger Roll is a must try. The presentation alone, with vibrant colors and a mix of textures, is enough to win the coveted title of MV’s Best Sushi. Made with an abundant number of ingredients, including tuna, salmon, escolar, white tuna, and eel, the roll is then sprinkled with tempura chips and tobiko for a burst of extra tang. Each bite leaves a mouthful of flavors. It will certainly have you coming back for more.

Speaking of more, what do New Englanders love more than sailing? The answer: The Lobster Roll. This special treat is in high demand all year round, but particularly when the lobsters are fresh off the boat. The Menemsha Lobster Roll, with hard shell juicy lobster meat mixed with just the right amount of mayonnaise, is piled high in a warm toasted buttery roll. Make sure you come hungry, because you won’t be able to put this delectable seafood selection down until you have enjoyed every last bite.
Not a seafood person? No worries, the Sand Bar serves all types of non-seafood items, including several burger options. A favorite is The Dude Burger, which is stacked with some of America’s favorite foods. This juicy burger will leave your mouth watering. It begins with a flavorful beef patty on a toasted bun topped with sharp cheddar cheese and a dash of barbecue sauce for a kick. Fried onion rings are then added, as well as a couple strips of crispy Applewood bacon. It is a great delicious twist on an all-American burger. Try it with a side of tator tots for a little extra crunch.

No matter how full you are, make sure you stay for dessert. A slice of fresh Key Lime Pie is the perfect ending to a perfect meal. This tart treat is made with real Key Lime Juice, a warm graham cracker crust, and then topped with a dollop of whipped cream. It is a light and refreshing dessert that will satisfy any sweet tooth.
